Indigenous Narratives: History Courses for Adult Ed

Indigenous Narratives is a collection of Adult Education History courses. The material was developed by Curran Katsi’sorokwas Jacobs, Kelly Ryan, Janice Newton, Gail Gagnon, Robyn Martin, and Emilie Bowles, all teachers or pedagogical consultants within the English School Board network.

The current courses are:

  • History of the Haudenosaunee (HST 4030-3)
  • Effects of Colonization (HST-5060-2)
  • Residential Schools (HST-5061-3)

Please note: These are currently available in English only. If you are interested in developing French language versions of these courses for your community please contact us.

From the site: “We are a group of educators from three English adult education centers in the Montreal area. Located on traditional Kanien’keha:ka territory, we all had a drive to see courses reflect the history of this land made available to our students. Together, we worked to develop what we believe are courses that support this endeavor, and we want to support others to bring them to life in their schools.”
